Since bringing the meat deparment out to the grill was impossible, the challenge became to bring the outdoor grill to the meat department. MME's new prototype paired the experience of grilling outdoors with the convenience of grabbing fresh meat at the supermarket counter. Custom sampling carts were outfitted to look like backyard kitchens, and entertaining cooks were hired to serve food with a neighborly smile and comfortable demeanor. The nostalgic American cookout became a part of the shopping experience, and the result was fantastic. An 88% sustained lift for meat sales in activated markets.
